Hi,

I am helping a friend switch to Ubuntu Linux 10.10.
She used Windows Vista to copy her own DVD's using DVD43 (http://www.dvd43.com/) to remove copy protection and 1Click DVD Copy to burn them.

She would like to do the same on Ubuntu. Can some one recommend alternative software for Linux that can do the same thing as what she did on Windows?

Hi,

I suspect that you have gone this long without reply because circumventing copy protection on media is illegal in most countries and as such most people will rather not get involved.

In this link https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DVD::Rip you can have a read on what can be done in Ubuntu regarding this... but as the site says:

Warning: As always, check the relevant copyright laws for your country regarding the backup of any copyright-protected DVDs and other media.

Cheers
Neil

Thank you Neil so much for replying. I took a look at the link and it was very helpful.
I understand the copyright issues, but most people are just trying to back up their own DVD's which have been horribly scratched over time.
