A few of my software sources repositories do not have Maverick distributions. Should I untick them as a software source, change the dist to maverick or leave them at their latest dist?

Are you talking about Lucid PPAs? If thats the case, most of the PPAs don't work with upgraded versions. It is always advised to disable them before upgrading.

THey are deselected automatically during the upgrade. You can try and enable them afterwards, lucid repo works fine here on maverick for instance for XBMC.

Am I correct in assuming that in those case where the Lucid repo works fine you leave Lucid as the distribution, in the software sources?
