It looks like the new FF is out. It's not yet on the main page, but today it popped up here http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/
and looks pretty much official (no "rc" or "b" in the folder name).

Theres no need to actually download & compile the lastest version of Firefox. In the last version of Firefox they integrated automatic an automatic update feature in that instead of downloading and re-installing Firefox you just click "Update now" when the screen comes up to tell you a new version is out.

Some of my extensions didn't work with the new version but I used MR Tech Local Install extension to force them to be compatible.

You're probably right. It's mainly mac osx integration.

for dapper testers: well, you're supposed to test the firefox that comes from the repos ;) :P

Security fixes always make it worth upgrading imo and it will only take you a minute if you use Firefox's update engine.

I upgraded yesterday, apart from the security fixes, it seems to be running more stabley than 1.5.0.1 did.
