adobe flash plugin

i downloaded the adobe flashplayer 10 in tar.gz format. extracted the file libflashplayer.so. then from my terminal i entered sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. everything worked. adobe was updated and mozilla recognized it. then i did something and now flashplayer 10 isn't on my plugin list anymore. i can't get it back. Can anyone help?

I am definitely not an expert but to install the adobe version flash plugin I normally type something like this:

sudo apt-get install flash-plugin nonfree
