Hello guys, i am looking to move to Ubuntu from Windows 7 as i have followed it vaguely for a few years, but am having a few issues today.

Firstly, i installed 10.10 on an external hard disk which boots perfectly on both my laptop and pc, BUT cannot connect to the wireless network on either of them.

I am now plugged in via ethernet on my laptop, and i can see the two wireless drivers i need, but when i click to enable them i keep getting an error message as follows

SystemError:installArchives() failed

I also have a graphics driver waiting, but i cant install that either

Please help me solve this issue!

MS Windows drivers sometimes are shipped in the form of self-extracting archives, in which case, their file extension is ".exe".

If these are MS Windows drivers, you can't install them as they will not work in Ubuntu.

I was using the System/Admin/Additional Drivers

For some reason i think the drivers did install, because i now have wireless internet, although my ATI in the menu says its not really installed.

But i get the exact same error when trying to install stuff from the Software Centre. Always an identical error
