I have recently switched to Kubuntu 10.10 maverick on my laptop. Almost every time that I start my laptop up now, the screens and the start bar are very plain looking. When I go to my desktop effects, it says that they have been stopped or shut down by another program. so, I use alt+shift+f12 to turn them back on. Sometimes they turn back on and stay on, other times they will shut right back off and say that another application has shut them off. So, I'm just wondering if this is a known bug and if so, how do you fix this?

On a side note, I've noticed that be web browsers are kind of glitchey on kubuntu 10.10. For instance, whenever I am on a site where there is a text box that I need to type into, it sometimes doesn't load and when it does, it will mess up throughout the time i'm typing. So, if anyone can help with that too, I would be appreciative.

Go to System Settings>Desktop effects>Advanced and check "disable functionality checks".
