Thought it was time for another upgrade (I usually upgrade every other release) so burnt myself a Ubuntu 64bit desktop CD. Last time I did this, with Karmic, booting from CD and getting to a functional desktop to try out took 3/4 minutes at most. This one got to the purple splash screen quickly enough then stuck there for 5 minutes before giving me the Try/Install choice. I'm not sure if clicking on the 'Try' option ever registered as the mouse cursor switched to busy and stayed there, whatever after another 5 minutes nothing further seemed to be happening so I hit the reset button and went back to Karmic.
Is this down to a buggy live CD or an indication that this release, for some reason, won't play nice with my system? I'm assuming the former as my system is as generic as it gets.
