Since my GF yesterday went to hospital for at least 2 weeks, she will hardly missing her beloved cat.
I want to set up a webcam recording the cat's favorite location, taking a snapshot every minute or something.
I do not want to create any skype or other video conferencing account, and I do not have a static IP,also
the upload is only something about 350 kbit/s ...
In the hospital they have kind of internet-tablet,think some microsoft stuff, means IE;will check this out on my today's visit.
Any ideas?
I also need a new webcam for this, which one (available in europe) works fine in maverick?
Thank you for your time...

its probably easiest to look into something like http://www.livestream.com/

an alternative approach would be to upload a snapshot from your webcam to a web server every minute, and display an auto-refreshing page that she can visit that displays the newest image. something like http://devio.us offers free shell + web accounts, so you could set a cron job up to upload a webcam image every minute.

as for webcams, i think most will work now. just go to your preferred retailer, see what the 5 most suitable webcams are and then google to see if they are compatible.

Or are you looking for something that will only take a picture (at an interval) when there is a change like the cat walking into the room?

I read an article recently about using your webcam for detecting motion but I can't for the life of me remember where. Maybe google "motion detecting webcam" or something?
