OpenOffice.org Impress w/o sound after upgrade to Maverick Meerkat

Hi,
I recently upgraded from Lucid Lynx to Maverick Meerkat and my OpenOffice.org Impress presentations' sound is not working. I don't have any issues affecting sound in other applications.

I reinstalled OpenOffice suite several times with no luck.

I am having the same problem, and I also reinstalled openoffice, with NO success.Everything used to work fine until a few weeks ago. Does anyone have a solution? This problem is being mentioned in various threads.
