Last week I installed Kubuntu 10.04 on a USB stick with no problem. I could jump between my laptops and run Kubuntu on either computer.

Today I installed Kubuntu 10.10 on the same usb (erasing 10.04) and now I have 2 problems. I used a Dell Inspirion 2200 (with WinXP SP3) to install 10.10 onto the usb.

The 1st problem is with the USB stick removed from the computer I get the following error:

ERROR: NO SUCH DEVICE: 734f54bb-8920-4b38-99c8-02c0ca925a0b
grub rescue>

It is only with the USB stick in the computer that I get the prompts to load Linux normally, Linux in safe mode, reboot or load Windows XP.

The 2nd problem is that if I put the USB stick in my Dell Vostro 1500 and try to boot from the USB stick I get a blank screen.

I didn't have this problem with 10.04. I could load 10.04 from the USB on either computer. Any suggestions? If anything I would like to at least be able to use my Dell Inspirion 2200 without having to use the USB stick.

Thanks

Curt
