Error 5 during Ubuntu 10.10 installation

[SOLVED][Error 5] input/output error
Hello everyone. I am getting the following message during installation of ubuntu 10.10. I tried installing from two different Iso images but I still get the same error. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ditto, with three separate ISO's. The disks were burned on my machine and I attempted to use them to install on my wife's machine. Tomorrow I'll try downloading and burning on the machine I'm installing on and we'll see if that makes any difference. All three times the installation got over 3/4 of the way through before chucking up and each time it was a different file that wouldn't copy.

Also, each time I chose to have updates downloaded while installation was going on so that's something else to do differently next time.

i tried installing ubuntu 10.10 in text mode from the dvd iso image and it worked for me.
