Hello I've been trying to install ubuntu 10.10 from a bootable usb drive, but whenever it try to it i get and error msg and it never installs. Could the problem be my computer or the usb.

The error reads as followed
(process:296): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid failed due to unknown user id (0)
Stdin: error 0
Stdin:error 0

Me too.

Starts to install from USB. Gives the Kubuntu splash and sticks on it for a longish time. Then gives the "(process:296): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid failed due to unknown user id (0)" message.

Is it possible that the password routine for a normal Linux OS has been left in place on the .iso version?

kubuntu amd64 version from usb external drive. MD5 sum of iso is OK

It has just worked for me from a CD - so far looks good.
