Hi, guys, let me jump in here. I downloaded 10.10 and used poweriso to burn it unto a cd. When I try to install I get the dreaded "no default or UI... " message. This is on both my pc at work and at home. I have been installing ubuntu from it's inception with no problem. My pc at home is a biostar p4 something and the one at work is Dell vostro 220.
As i said installations have never failed me.
Any advise??
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you either got a corrupted download ISO file (do an md5sum (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) on it), or you got a bad burn on your CD. Try burning at a much slower speed.

Yes, it was a bad CD burn. I have both computers running with it fully installed.

Thanks to those who responded.
