Hi there, I am facing a boring problem with the installation of Ubuntu 10.10. Ubuntu 10.04 was perfectly working in my machine.
I tried wubi on my windows xp. It was perfectly done in windows and requires restart. After restart I chose Ubuntu from the boot menu. The Ubuntu splash sreen showed up and then the screen gone blank and a message floating on the monitor: " Hz ? ".

I then install ubuntu 10.04 again in my windows and update all the files. Then I tried upgrading. It upgraded without any problem.
But after reboot when I chose the kernel, again the splash screen showed up and then the screen went blank and showed the previous message on the monitor: " Hz ? "

My system specification:
Processor: Intel celeron cpu 2.13GHz
Motherboard: MSI P4 VIA
Ram: 768MB
Graphics: Built in motherboard, S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR

what should I do?

Can you still boot into Windows without any problems?

If yes, then the problem has something to do with Wubi and GRUB.

See here for a possible solution:
