Help with IRC....

Hi all,

Apologies for the "noob" post, I feel slightly daft considering I've been in the IT world for many years and something as simple as IRC is stumping me.

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and stumbled across the Loco teams, I've managed to sign into Pidgin onto the #ubuntu-uk dicsussion but I keep getting told that my nickname is not registered, which is true of course.

What I can't seem to figure out, is where to register it? I have a Launchpad account and registered it on there but beyond that its confusing me.
