I'm trying the live CD on the last box in the house on windows.

Sadly no joy. After a god awful low res logo which looks like text rather than a graphic the monitor switches to 'input not detected'

About 30 seconds later the logon sound plays fine so I'm guessing everything is working bar the video.

I can ctrl+alt+f1 to get to a terminal but don't know how to change the resoultions of add refresh rates to a live installation.

I've also done a CD integrity check and it's fine.

Finally I've tried ctrl+alt+ +/- when I think it's got to desktop but if that is changing the desktop resoloutions it's not having any affect on the monitor signal.

Any ideas what I can try next?

Might be your Monitor is not supporting the resolution.

When the CD boots, you can press any key and you'll be present with a bunch of options like "Try without making changes", "Install Ubuntu" etc etc. In the bottom right, there are some other options, choose "nomodeset" and continue with the boot. Does it help?
