How would you get permission to use the Linux mascot, Tux, in a book to be commercially published?

Pretty sure if there is any copyright on Tux it will be GPL so you should be good to go...

yeah, I got this horribly childish 'stop leeching' watermark when I tried to embed one of those modified tux avatars in a post.

Go to Larry Ewing's page at http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/

You don't need permission to use Tux, as long as you acknowledge Larry Ewing as the original artist.
