ATI catalyst settings wont stay in 10.10

So I upgraded to 10.10 (64bit) and am now having problems getting the settings applied in Catalyst to hold through a reboot (specifically v-sync).

I tried uninstalling the driver and going back to the opensource drivers that worked well in 10.4, but 10.10 wont boot into the gui without the ATI drivers.

Any ideas on getting these settings to stick?

I initially ran into problems with the catalyst drivers when they were initially released during the beta. I found my twin monitor screen resolutions adjusted in Catalyst did not hold after a logout or reboot. In prior releases you couldn't use the System>Preferences>Monitors when catalyst was installed. Now I found that I could not only use it but use it to make my setting persistent.
