Hello Everybody I got this Toshiba L505D-S598 and i have had windows 7 on it for quite some time. I have tried to install ubuntu on this laptop and I boot off the disk and and starts to load. then it hangs and my laptop freezes. I can't even get to the main menu of the Cd. I also read the other Thread similar to this problem. I've Tried using WUBI and same problem it still does not work... any ideas or starters?

-- Additional Info I have tried other versions of ubuntu 7.04-10.04

Any Help would be really helpful

I have tried other versions of ubuntu 7.04-10.04

Do you mean all of them failed to load?

First of all check the MD5SUM of the downloaded image.

If the sums match, burn a new disc, this time at the lowest possible speed and try to boot it.

If you are not sure that your CD/DVD drive is in a good working condition, you can create a USB startup disc and try to install from it.

Try Ubuntu 10.10. The Toshiba L505D series of laptops have a problem with Linux, which Ver. 10.10 solves.
