I'm trying to install ubuntu Linux on a Pentium 3 computer which does not support booting to the CD-ROM drives. What are my options on other ways to install? Could I either use a 3.5inch floppy disk to get it started or install on another computer and just switch the disk back over right before configuring all the hardware?

We need more info.

What kind of computer do you have?

Did you check for a BIOS update?

I have not checked for a BIOS update because I have heard horror stories about people corrupting their system when those fail.

The computer I want to put it on has a Abit BH6 motherboard. With a 333mhz Pentium 3.

The other computer that I talked about maybe using to install to the hard drive and then transfer over is a Dell Dimension 4100 with a Pentium 3 at 800mhz.

Web search "linux floppy to boot cd"

How much RAM does that computer have?

Sorry. The problem was because the CD-ROM drive I was using wasn't the secondary master IDE device. Switched and it loaded right up.

Just a note. You could mark this thread as [solved] so other other people don't come here trying to help :D.
