I might sound like an idiot. I will, guess.
Anyway, is there possibly any way to install Ubuntu (I have made the Ext4 and swap partition already) while in Windows? I don't want what "Install inside windows" option does. I want an independant OS installed in the targeted drive.

My CD/DVD writer does not work and my USB ports gave up an year and a half ago while I was running Ubuntu 8 (or maybe it was 7). I'm stuck.
I just downloaded the ISO file to Ubuntu 10.04.1.

Edit: I have a CD for Ubuntu 10.04 but it's scratched and all, so that's not an option. I don't have any empty CD right now, so I'm burning a DVD from my brother's PC. Will update.

If there still is any way to do it, let me know. I'm not sure my 3 year old disc drive will be able to read the DVD (I know it because it read a scratched CD today, but failed when asked to read a clean DVD)

Short answer ... NO.

The only "install in Windows" option is Wubi -- and you indicated that you don't want that.
