No close, max or min icons

Hi There! I'm new to Linux/Ubuntu. Just finished the full change over tonight!!

I have a question I hope you can help me with. I no longer have close boxes or maximize/minimize bars. I also can't move my little file windows around. Any idea what the problem is? I am at my wits end!! My brother doesn't know and he's pretty fluent with ubuntu....any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this to happen to me occasionally. Mine is usually fixed with restarting the computer. I do not know if it has anything to do with the visual effects, but it would be something easy to try.

Nope, no luck. Tried restarting. It was perfect earlier, now they're missing. I can't even get my web pages to go full screen. :(

Problem solved.

Was in Compiz playing around with the various effects. Turned off the wiggly windows (which didn't work anyway) and all of my little boxes work again and I can move the boxes!!
