Compiz Settings Manager

In the compiz Settings Manager I cannot set the compiz Animations so when I close a window or open a window the animation will not work. However when I minimize a window the animation will work. Any Suggestions.

Can you go in to more detail? In the CompizConfig Settings, there should be an "Animation" option, with an Aladdin-style lamp for the icon, under the "Effects" category.

Here you can edit all the different effects, including closing windows. (See attached screen shot)

Are you able to get this far?
