I'm looking to load up 10.10 on a fresh platform, and I'd rather not go with the Pre-release. I'm wondering what time it will be available? 12:00 midnight? EST USA? anyone?

What time of the day is it going to be released?

It's impossible to tell when precisely it's going to happen. It depends on when the work that needs to be carried out before publishing the images is complete and on when mirrors complete syncing, which in turn depends on network conditions all over the world. Just wait for the announcement.


So how do I know for certain that it's out?

You can do any of the following:


Check or subscribe to the Ubuntu Release Blog (http://release-blog.ubuntu.com/). The release will be reported immediately with a new post.
Join the #ubuntu-release-party or #ubuntu+1 channels on irc.freenode.net (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat), where the release will be announced the moment it happens.

I'm in Pacific Time Zone, and it's 10:00PM here. The past few releases I've stayed up for never happened until about 12:00PM PST on the release date, not 12:00AM or even 3:00AM. Had fun waiting and chatting on the forums, but now I've learned to just relax and go to sleep.

The latest daily build is almost indistinguishable from the final release. Get it early and then apply a couple of megabytes of updates tomorrow.

It usually doesn't come out until some time in the afternoon (Eastern Standard Time which is 5 hours behind Isle of Man time). But it being Sunday, who knows when they'll release it.

Just DON'T start downloading until the official release announcement is made. DON'T believe bloggers who don't actually check to see if the iso is ready.
