...Kubuntu 10.10 when released tomorrow. I've only been using Ubuntu since 9.10 and in general I have enjoyed using it (I'm using 10.04 LTS now).
The reason why I#m planning on using Kubuntu is simply because I liked using KDE about six years ago and want to try version 4.5. What I'll be doing is installing Kubuntu 10.10 on a USB memory stick as a live CD and booting up from that.
At this stage I don't want to install Kubuntu on the hard disk and replace Ubuntu because I will then have to install the "extra" software I've downloaded for 10.04.
I would be interested to read any comments on previous versions of Kubuntu to get an idea what to expect for the new version.

Use my extension Umarks (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13153/) to install all the applications again. It doesn't work with deb files installed manually tho, only with those available in the repositories.
Personally, I'm sticking with Lucid. I had a bad experience with Maverick beta and KDE works like a charm in Lucid.

I tried Kubuntu 10.10 RC and was quite pleased. The installer has improved. It now asks if you want to install the restricted extras though you won't have to worry if you use the extension above.
It's much more stable than the last time I used it.. 4.2 I think.
KPackagekit has come along way. It's becoming another add/remove programs.
The control panel is set up better than I remember it in 4.2. It seems to be coming together quite well.

I haven't tried the RC, but Dolphin was unusable in the Beta due to dbus issues. I'm not sure if that has been fixed, but I'm not willing to test it again.

Dolphin was fine in the RC. I installed mplayerthumbs from the repository, which gave video files a thumbnail preview as Nautilus does. It took a while to index the first time though. I couldn't live without that. I'm too used to picking out what I want to watch by sight recognition.
In the beta however, a couple of times I got a "Dolphin has crashed" error message. The problem was that it didn't appear to really have crashed. It was still usable, not frozen. ??? That must have been fixed - or in the process of being fixed when I was using it.

It was crashing a lot for me too and every action, like dragging files or selecting a file property, would take ages to complete.
