In just over a couple of weeks I am hosting an event on my local tech forums, Overclockers Australia. See here if you've never heard of it. www.overclockers.com.au

Originally, this was going to be an event strictly for members of the Overclockers Australia Forums, but I have decided to make it even bigger and invite Ubuntu and UbuntuForums.org members in to participate.

All the details are as posted in the OCAU forums are like this.

Any questions, feel free to ask here. ;-)

INTRODUCTION

In co-operation with Overclockers Australia, Agg and fellow OCAUers Swathe, Smakked and chancey, and after over 2 months of planning we'd like to welcome and introduce to you the first and hopefully the first of many, Official OVERCLOCKERS AUSTRALIA LINUX SPRING CODE 2010.

The idea for this event is based on the Google Summer of Code concept, but in a much simpler form and structure. The event is as open as Linux itself and comes without any obligations. It's all about code, mingling with other Linux users and community members, having some well earned fun and enjoy ourselves, doing what we love most about computer technology and IT—Linux, kernels, code and programming.

The event will give you the potential for you to meet new people and fellow Linux users for which you may not have otherwise had the chance to do. And to also use and share your skills as a Linux user with fellow members.

CONCEPT

- Participants to create and form teams based on preferences/skill set/knowledge and perhaps the Linux distribution(s) used
- Participants to come up with ideas, concepts and projects for the event
- Consult with members of the Overclockers Australia Forums and also the UbuntuForums.org Forum and gather members' nicknames of willing participants
- Post nicknames and any other required details and information to forums quote box in original post
- Members to post their ideas for projects on either the Overclockers Australia Forums, UbuntuForums.org, or the recommended Wridea (www.wridea.com) collaboration website or any other preferred software collaboration website and/or method
- Members to decide for themselves which proposed projects they wish to participate in
- Then a team-leader can be agreed on. Note: Nominated team-leader is for guidance purposes only for the direction of the project and any further details that are required. No authority is given to Team-leaders over other fellow project members and participants

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

- OverclockersAustralia.com.au members, UbuntuForums.org members and Linux users and friends of members
- Software designers and developers and freelance coders are all encouraged to participate. But you do not need to have any particular skills or skill set to participate, anyone is more than welcome to enjoy the event and help make it something worthy and memorable

HOW WILL PARTICIPANTS TRACK AND WATCH PROGRESS OF PROJECTS

- All members and participants nicknames, teams, contact, projects, project details will be posted and openly available on a custom database at the following URL
