Installed Ubuntu but have *no Sound*

hi all, have installed Ubuntu and i love it, but have the nagging problem of no sound, I have checked the mute button and it is *not* muted.

Do i need to download any drivers?.
my soundcard is a creative labs soundblaster audigy - if you need additional information please let me know.
