Hi everyone! I'm using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and have activated Macbuntu theme, which has given my computer a snow leopard look. I'm quite happy with it. But something is going wrong. I can't install one or more fonts that are necessary for the theme to work properly.

Macbuntu comes with a number of fonts that you need to install so that your desktop environment turns into a snow leopard. I've installed them. But a few fonts are still remaining that is shown on the bootup (while logging in or login screen). I can't install those two or more fonts on my ubuntu.

I've tried both usual and nautilus way but none would work. Installation just fails. See this:

As a result of failure to install the font, my login screen looks terrible:

As you can see, I'm badly in need of installing those fonts in any possible way. Can anyone tell me some advanced way to install the fonts?

You might try to install Lucida Grande that shipped with Safari 3 for Windows. Look for it on FileHippo (http://www.filehippo.com/download_safari/5250/), download SafariSetup.exe, extract it somewhere and look for fonts in Safari.resources folder.

Usually I copy font files somewhere under /usr/share/fonts/truetype/, so I don't know whether they would install [adequately] with the font previewer

Thank you for your reply. I somewhere else got a piece of command that was needed to execute on terminal after pasting the fonts "Lucida Grande" on your directed target. The fonts come with Macbuntu download so I don't need to download Safari.

I appreciate your response, though. :)

I would just upgrade to ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat which is newly out and then try installing Macbuntu from there. You may have also not installed it right. Here is a link to download/install/uninstall page. http://lifehacker.com/5665765/macbuntu-makes-your-linux-desktop-look-like-mac-os-x I have Macbuntu installed in 10.10 and it works great. This page also includes 10.10 install/uninstall instructions.
Best of Wishes, Wild_Wes

Wow, impressive looking theme! I don't have a Mac, but I might have to give this a try... :P

EDIT: Oops! Didn't mean to revive the thread. I didn't look at the dates.
