View Full Version : [ubuntu] power off during up grade

October 7th, 2010, 01:09 AM
I forgot that i was in the middle of updating to 10.10 when i shutdown my computer. the computer froze and the screen said that it was in low graffics mode. after a while i shut down the computer by using the power button on my case.

when i try to start my computer i get thru bios and then i get a message that reads.

mount: mounting none on /dev failed: no such device.

the computer stays that way until i hit the power button and the it says.

starting common unix printing system: cups
[ 50.845123] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 0

it repeats that about 30 times and then says

checking battery state....

then nothing happens. any suggestions?

....then nothing happens. any suggestions? If you ask me, I would start over with a clean install as I'm not sure how this 'hard reboot' affected your upgrade/installation...

But this is just my opinion ;)

i was thinking that but i would like to save the information that is not backed up on my external hard drive. i guess it is just a loss

If you boot a live CD, you can rescue what you need from the old system. After that a clean install is the best option.
