View Full Version : [ubuntu] Fast laptop, slow boot. Why? Bootchart attached.

Hi! Sweet new laptop (ASUS X83Vm-X2 Core2Duo P7450 2.13GHz 4GB), trying to figure out why boot is so slow. Any thoughts on this bootchart? Machine seems to hang up for ~15 seconds before displaying gnome login screen, and then about the same after logging in, before displaying desktop.

Slowdown *may* have coincided with installation of nVidia restricted driver.. Running PAE kernel in order to address 4GB system RAM + 1GB video...

Would appreciate it if someone who knows more about reading this chart than me could shed some light. Thanks!!! ~j

p.s. real sorry about the image.. not sure how to attach an image this big without the system shrinking it down??

upgraded nVidia driver from "173" to "current" and woooo it boots fast now. :-)
