View Full Version : [ubuntu] removing unwanted ubuntu partition

i have a dualboot with window vista and ubuntu. i also have a failed install of ubuntu of 30 gb, that i would like to convert to ntfs as my windows partition could use some asdditional diskspace.how do i go about doing this without trashing the system? thanks in advance.

I would boot to your working ubuntu and go to System > Administration > Disk Utility
then select the failed partition and choose Format Volume

You mentioned expanding your Windows partition. Just make sure that you do that expansion using the Win7 Disk Management utility. Don't use any Ubuntu utilities to do that.
If you want to create a separate NTFS data partition using Ubuntu utilities, that should be OK.
