I was searching through my posts for something and came across one of the earliest posting when I was just getting into Ubuntu, actually while waiting for the 5.10 CD to arrive.

Funny thing about finding such an old post (November 16, 2005) is that a fair amount of what was said is still prevalent even with the next version coming out in less than a week (and shy of 5 years after the original post)!

So what is the oldest post you've posted in or thread you started?

Actually, my oldest post I can find is October 11, 2005 regarding somebody looking for laptop advice. Ironic, but the specs we were talking about is actually what my current laptop has (except for screen size). Have a laptop? (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=72730&page=6)

So, what is your oldest post or thread and how have things changed since then? And how does it look now, that your beans may have gone up significantly?!

Looks like it was one right after I decided to try Ubuntu and was having problems getting it to see my RAID array.

I don't unsubscribe to a lot of threads, so I found them in the last page of my subscriptions. Doing an Advance Search just confirmed what I found previously.

Started on Breezy, my first successful foray into Linux after a failed dabble with Mandriva.
Now have multi-boot system running 4 OS's and have contributed to a few projects including USP and USP2.

What have changed since then:

Firefox now has plugin process isolation, which prevents the browser from crashing when viewing flash content
Lightspark has been released and might be a good alternative for the proprietary flash plugin (doesn't work for me tho)


What didn't change:


Flash still eats too much CPU cycles, crashes and drives people crazy
Adobe still finds major security vulnerabilities on almost all flash versions
