Hi

My computer freezes during boot from live cd and usb every time, with many different distros. Tried ubuntu 10.04, xubuntu 10.04, mint 8 kde, damn small linux, puppy. None works for me. I managed to boot only with knoppix.
I boot from the usb, I get the menu and hit "try _buntu without installing". It loads some stuff for a moment, screen flickers, I get blinking prompt thingy and it's frozen. Doesnt respond to anything.
When booting ubuntu from cd I dont get any menus. There's only that purple screen visible for a moment, and then prompt and freeze.

Selecting anything else from the menu, like test memory, check disc etc, ends with freeze also.
Thought it was a hdd issue, so I pulled a different in (from working xp system). Same issue. Booting with no hdd also doesnt work. Tried swapping ram chips too

Any idea what might be wrong?

The computer is 2.2GHz Celeron, ABit motherboard, with 1,25GB ram.

All help very appreciated

Is there a graphics card or accelerator of any kind?

Yes. There's ATI Radeon 9250 SE. No other graphics card or integrated graphics in motherboard.
