I have now installed a radeon 9250l display board. I followed the Ubuntu Radeon documentation page. It tells me that 3d is supported. I am not sure that 3d is correct or running. I am running without a xorg.conf file and my current resolution os 1024x768 (which is fine). I get no errors on boot but want to make sure its correct.
I also did:
sudo nano /etc/default/grub.
Add radeon.modeset=1 to the end of the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=.
sudo update-grub
Here are some results of tests, etc.
don@don-desktop:~$ glxinfo |grep vendor
