I know I'm probably beating on a dead horse since I have been working on this since Thunderbird 3 came out. I have read all the topics about the ubuntuzilla archives and tried with no success to get the synaptic package manager and the update to work but it never does.

I am running Thunderbird version 2.0.0.24 (20100324) and would like to upgrade to 3+ so I can get a calendar up.

I have tried the sourceforge thing at:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ubuntuzilla/index.php?title=Main_Page#Installation

No luck. I have searched these forums but I turned blue. Everything that seems to work for others doesn't get me any closer. Does this just not work on Hardy? If anyone would like to tackle assisting me in getting this upgraded I would be eternally thankful.

[UPDATE]
I didn't mean to close it so abruptly but I found a solution on UbuntuGeeks that worked:

Why don't you download it (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/) from Mozilla and extract it into /opt?
