I searched through forum but it's hard to name my problem so I hope I am not asking question already solved somewhere here.

I am running ubuntu 10.04 for about two weeks so relativly fresh install. My problem is that sometimes when I boot and log in I end up with .... let's call it weird mode which means theese:

1) It's not possible to restart or shut down the system by clicking "restart" or "shut down" button in drop down menu. Doing this, system logs me out and that is all. When I click restart/shut down in login screen after this bad log out nothing happens. However when I switch to console It works here by "sudo reboot".

2) Another symptom of weird mode is incorrect content of drop down menus upthere in right corner. I attached screenshots showing variations on menus contents.

Theese two symptoms always show togather. It happens approximatly in 1 out of 10 "boot times". Maybe there is something more abnormal in weird mode but I didn't observe.

I do not know which info about my system is relevant so please ask.
Thnks in advance for help :)

Could you at least point me, where to ask? I understand that this may be a little deeper problem. Do you think this can be a bug? I was thinking about filling bug report...
