Story: http://mashable.com/2010/09/30/goo-gl-url-shortener/
http://goo.gl/
Bit.ly was my favorite URL shortener and the only one I used, but not anymore. I tested out Google URL Shortener after seeing that was a trending topic on Twitter and discovered that unlike Bit.ly, Goo.gl tells you country, browser, and platform (operating system) statistics. The user interface is also much more simple than Bit.ly's in my opinion. Goo.gl is now my favorite

Please link the source URL rather than mocking goo.gl with a competing URL shortening service. :| Especially when you say goo.gl is now your favorite.

And yes, goo.gl is public: http://goo.gl/

shows URL shortening history and everything.

I just replaced my Tiny URl extension with goo.gl lite (http://goo.gl/87EQ) extensions. Works like a charm.

I wish Google provides a search feature for goo.gl and a way to avoid duplicates.

Hm. Been using the plugin for a couple of months with Chrome. Didn't realize it wasn't "public" yet.

yes, it wasn't. before this public announcement, I tried using goo.gl in either chrome/firefox, and it wouldn't let me, said it wasn't public and whatnot, even though I was logged into my google account and everything, no sign up button, nothing.
