I have a D Link DIR - 601 and I would like to mod it (finally!!!).
Mainly, I would like to attach my own antenna. The one that comes with it its too small, but I dont see any screws to take the old antenna out and attach my own. is it possible?
Ohhh!!! and can I download a modified third party software that will tweak this little guy?

the antenna should unscrew .. then you can add an external +5 db antenna with an extension cord. I have same on my DL-624.

As to third party tweaking software .. really not needed nor is there anything available for Linux to my knowledge.

Have a look at the DD-WRT (http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database) database, to see if your router is supported.

Looks like my router is not supported by DD-WRT:(
Most importantly, how can I change the antenna of my router... I dont seee any screws on the antenna itself.
Should I open the whole thing and look for them?
Does anyone have the same model with a modded antenna?

Get a soldering and a screw driver.

the BASE of the antenna is the screw on .. straighten it out most of the way and simply unscrew the thing (using your fingers on the base or MAYBE gently using a set of pliers.)

I have an auxiliary antenna on one of my access points, it really doesn't make that much difference as far as signal strength goes.

I have a ANT24-0400 2.4GHz Omni-Directional Indoor Antenna (http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/d-link-offers-new-high-gain-wifi-antennas/)
