Anyone using Google VOIP Service?
How is it???
Can I use my own ATA Device instead of the softphone?
Any worries about privacy? Will they monitor my calls etc? (eeeekkk!!!)

Love you all!!!!

hhhmmm... but I got an invitation from Google on my Gmail and I actually tried and made a local call and it worked.
When I registered with Gmail, I gave them my real Canadian address.

you cant use the ATA directly since GV disabled SIP.
But you can link it to an IPKALL number thru iptel or localphone free voip service.
the IPKALL number incoming will ring the phone
Outgoing you got to use the computer and GV to make the call,
You can right now do it at no cost.

If you use localphone, then you need to turn on voip in the user control to get the ATA to register.

http://www.iptel.org/

I found either one of these works. I was using sipgate, but then it quit working with GV. Sipgate will give you a free DID incoming number in your area code.
Once registered you link the voip user to IPKALL phone number
http://www.ipkall.com/

Then you link your GV to IPKALL

When making outgoing calls, I noticed I need to let my phone ring on ring or GV wont call the other party.
And I noticed I need to wait a minute after logging into GV to get GV to work making calls.

MY ATA device is a Linksys SPA2102
