View Full Version : [ubuntu] Grub problems- no bootup

For whatever reason my computer won't boot up. All I get is the >Grub prompt and a largely black screen. Ubuntu will not start.

Using the installation CD and "Try Ubuntu" I can get to the Desktop and then fix Grub using-

METHOD 3 - CHROOT

at the following location-

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Rescue%20Mode

After a few boot ups the Grub gets messed up again (I think) and I have to repeat the procedure above.

Also, using the installation CD (Try Ubuntu) I can see all of the data on my hard drive so all of that is still intact.

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Post the Boot Info Script (http://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/) output, hopefully it will provide some useful hints.

I ran it.

What am I supposed to use it for? It seems it only provides information and doesn't fix anything.

It's not supposed to fix anything, it is for you to post so others can help you.
