Since upgrading [32bit] this morning Firefox has sucked up 50-100% of both cores in my HP laptop. Has anyone else seen this?

Nope. I guess it could be an extension causing the problem, although it is odd since is not a major Firefox upgrade.
Start Firefox in safe mode and test if the problem persists.
See Firefox General Troubleshooting Steps (http://firefox-tutorials.blogspot.com/2010/05/general-troubleshooting-steps.html) tutorial.

Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the problems seemed to go away in safe mode, although there was one instance where the Adobe plugin maxed out/semi-froze on a pdf file. I disabled a couple of plugins and haven't experienced the same problems yet.
Thanks again.
