View Full Version : [ubuntu] breaks encrypted home partition

September 30th, 2010, 05:26 PM
Update installed, but everytime I boot into it, Ubuntu does a file system check, and either tells me my Harddrive is corrupted or complains that it cant find a large list of locations / files / directories.

I can log in from a console, but it spews messages (from memory):
ecryptfs Unable to allocate Crypto cipher [aes] -2

and my home directory is replaced with some instructions for ecryptfs which fail with the above message.

I looked this message up - but the only hits were "make sure it's all installed right" with no instructions.

Rebooting and choosing works fine

Since the system works with the older kernel, it is obviously a bug in the new one. It would be great if you would open a bug report in Launchpad (or confirm it, if it is already opened).

Meanwhile I would just use the old kernel, plain and simple.
