I have searched a lot for solutions of this problem, but there seems to be no solution that works for me.

It was time to update my installation... AS I have NEVER updated it. So I ran the update manager and launched updates. Many packages completed, but linux-image-2.6.32-25-generic (2.6.32-25.44) gave me a lot of errors. I don't ave the terminal output from the update manager, but I have info from apt-get install -f. I am using root account.

I am sure the update manager was doing the same as apt-get at the moment.

Any ideas on how to solve that? Lucky me: I did a backup of my wubi virtual disk before the update. I can reverse the update at any moment. Did it two times, every time the same problem.

Thanks in advance.

Same problem, and that's all I have to add to this topic right now. :/

Edit: Now I have something more to add, fixed it by uninstalling nvidia-common (I have ATI).

Probably won't help your problem though.

Thank you for the info, but in my case it is something to do with the way grub is installed, I think...
