I have a normal ubuntu installation installed on my netbook.

Annoyingly for some reason Firefox regularly goes grey on the background, I am unable to get any input to it. After a few seconds the colour returns and functionality returns.

This does not happen after a period of inactivity so I have no idea why this happens or for what reason.

I've seen a similar post dated 2008 so it is surprising it is still occurring.

That is compiz warning you the program is not responding. This generally means it is doing something. A lot of programs do this and it may not mean anything is wrong at all.

Seems to be happening a lot since a recent reload.

Firefox has seemed to become a wee bit bloated of late so I am going to
give epiphany a try.

Could be many things.

See Firefox Optimization and Troubleshooting tutorials at http://firefox-tutorials.blogspot.com

My Firefox works like a charm, even with more than 60 extensions installed.
