HP makes great printers, and the printers tend to love Ubuntu for me. Although I question the last HP printer my dad bought. It has a little tiny TFT screen that displays ads.

I wouldn't prefer samsung from printers. Hp has good market hand on it and its multi-functional printers are good at affordable rates
Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this HP LaserJet Enterprise P3015X Monochrome Laser Printer (http://tinyurl.com/294gzsk)? I don't print very much at all, but thought it might be a decent printer to have around the house. On the very rare occasion I do need to print something, I don't have any printer at all, and need something.
What do you folks think? Any better options for around the same money or less?
Thanks in advance.

That's a enterprise class printer and the cost shows it.

I have this:

And it works awesome in Ubuntu.

So it is great to go with HP??

By and large it's a personal thing. A Brother printer has given me some grief in the past but usually I will still prefer Brother printers to Dell & HP candidates due all the misery I've experienced at their hands in both printers and PCs.

Rather than being brand specific or anything like that I think you would do better to just investigate a few - pretend you have one and need new ink cartridges for it, Google stuff like 'trouble with printer-model-name' and when you find one that is reasonable with replacement ink pricing and doesn't have too many people crying out against it in Google you should probably buy that one.

HP has some of the best Linux supprt out there.

I have an older LaserJet 1018 and its actually easier to install on Ubuntu than on Windows 7. No joke.

Look at the prices, it's a no-brainer. The HP's not even wireless.

Just looking at the prices makes me question why people continue to choose TigerDirect over Newegg.

The company I work for has lots of HP printers. In general they are very reliable, but some of them require more ink than others. Linux support is very good for HP. HP contribute alot of code for Linux and provide alot of Linux servers.

Was it HP that invented laser printer? I remember HP laserjet since laserjet 2 back in the late 80s. I think they are the most established laser printer manufacturer. Couldn't go wrong with HP.

It has a little tiny TFT screen that displays ads. :confused:ADS? Oh gosh I can't believe it. Probably having ads inside games (and no, I don't mean the adboards we see in a famous Japanese football game beside the pitch which have a sense as they're designed to resemble the ones you see ast the stadium, I just mean ads in the loading screen of such game aswell) and quite on every site you go to wasn't enough -_-'

Do you think that sooner or later we'll see a Windows loading screen like "Loading, please wait: and remember that Windows today is brought you by American Express"?

There is a good list of open source supporting companies here:

HP is one of them. Personally I try to back those that back Linux

And I'm trying to save the guy $400, but apparently money is not an issue here.

If you're going to get an HP laser printer, why not get the CM1312MFP and have color capabilities instead of monochrome? This place (http://www.tamayatech.com/parts.php?i=CC430AABM) sells it for $432. I have that color laser printer, and it's pretty amazing.

Definitely stay away from Samsung if you're getting laser. Their quality isn't anywhere near that of the HPs.

But I'm with some of the others here. Do you really need an enterprise quality laser printer? Why not just get an all-in-one inkjet for one tenth of the cost?
