I have a desktop computer that either has a bad motherboard or power supply (I suspect the motherboard). However, the hard drive is fine. I have taken the (SATA) hard drive and hooked it up in an enclosure via USB to my Netbook. I would like to use the netbook to wipe the other hard drive with a fresh install of Xubuntu. The hard drive was previously set up to dual boot XP and Xubuntu. I want to wipe personal data and make it exclusively Xubuntu.

I plan to sell the computer advertised with a broken motherboard rather than fix it myself.

I have no idea how to do this install.

If you want to wipe personal data, Killdisk is better than just installing (X)ubuntu.

I don't think you will get much for a computer with broken motherboard. That means that people are paying for the hard drive and a box, which may or may not accommodate the desired motherboard.
