View Full Version : [ubuntu] If I install the Maverick beta, would I have to do a full update to get the release?

I think I might do a clean install of Maverick right now to replace my frankenbuntu cross between 9.10 and 10.04. If I install the beta, then when the official release comes out will I have to do a FULL update or will it only update whatever changed from the beta? I'm the type of guy that always wants the latest updates...

Keep the update manager doing its stuff and you will get to the full release automatically. You won't need to do anything other than apply the updates as they become available.

Awesome, thanks. I just didn't want it to be a situation where I download the 700MB beta ISO, install it, and then download another 700MB ISO to install the final. My internet is terribly slow.

Well, bear in mind that there have been a few hundreds of megabytes of updates since the Beta came out. And I'd expect there will be significant updates to come, (in terms of size of downloads).

You might want to get the daily build which will include most of the updates since the Beta was released.

The daily build? How would I get that...? Is it this? http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/

That's the link to the daily build of the Alternate CD, so if you want the Alternate, then yes.

Otherwise you might want

EDIT: Disregard this post. You hadn't posted yet on my end.

Thanks for the help! :)
