If it has not already been chosen, I figured out what I think it should be...

Best choice:
Perfect. Means 'New *weird* Animal' which fits every Ubuntu release.

Nascent Nudibranch

More sinister opinion about Ubuntu subliminally contained in this one...;-)

Noxious Nazgul

So the poll would be two parts. Folks suggest names, then folks rate those, and reduce the list, just like 'American Idol'. Then votes reduce that list to a winner.

Spice up the atmosphere around here having a a naming competition several times a year.

Dear Mr. Tut:

This is most definitely the wrong forum. This should be in the Community Café.
Ubuntu 11.04 has already been named. It is to be the Natty Narwhal, the Narwhal being an Arctic toothed whale with a massive tusk protruding from its head.
Narwhals are cool.

Best wishes,

J. ROTHWELL (Mr.)

To 1.

Likely not your purview.

To 2.

That is sad. The Nudibranch is a far older species and is far more beautiful.
Nascent is a good word. 'natty' sounds like the 'nappy headed ho' remark, and you know where that went. It also means "crazy", or "insane". What happened to the Ubuntu mission statement? Mine is far better.

To 3.

Nudibranch are a far more cool and diverse species. Whales are just... whales.
this one just happens to gouge some of his kill first. How quaint.

A Nudibranch doesn't drop several kilos of waste into the sea every day.

PS Karmic was my suggestion.

Locked. Since the name has been decided (as has been noted in post 2), nothing to discuss. Now if you want to discuss what the O release (2011 October) should be here are a few ideas:

Octagonal Octopus

Original Orangutan

Oly Oryx

Obliging Ocelot

Olympic Orca

Omnipotent Otter
