I own a Dell Zino desktop running Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope, that came pre-installed with the desktop when I bought it. I am trying to replace it with the new version 10.04. Wherever I read, the procedure for doing the upgrade seems to be going to the Update Manger, completing all pending updates and clicking on the Check button. Apparently, a message indicating the availability of a new version of Ubuntu is supposed to show up, along with a link to install it. No such thing comes when I click the Check button! Perhaps Dell disabled it? I don't know.

I want to avoid burning the new version's iso to CD, and installing from there. I would prefer installing from the Update Mangaer or Synaptic or some in-built program. Command line will be great too. Someone please help.
