If I reinstall Ubuntu, is there an option to keep my home folder contents without having to copy it to another partition?

If you didn't install it to a different partition, then no. You'd have the make a copy of it and move it somewhere else before reinstalling.

That's what I figured... sigh. I really don't want to do that lol, but I have an issue going on that I can't deal with, and haven't been able to find a resolution for in the last 3 days. So, yeah... I guess time to reinstall :(

What's the problem you've been having?

I'm not able to open computer, trash, or network.

I see. Ugh. I don't know what would cause that, unfortunately.

A reinstall would probably get it working.

I did a little research on it, and it seems to be an issue with gvfs. But nobody seemed to know how to fix it.

Can you post error messages?

Did you change permissions?

Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

(you might want to consider requesting a change of username rather than having something with your email in it; just a friendly tip)

Have you tried just reinstalling Nautilus or gvfs via Synaptic? Maybe something got messed up that a reinstall of the package might fix?

Yeah, tried both to no effect.
